Native Plants Series: Poppies - A watercolor workshop with Ana Budnyk

We’ll use our observation skills to paint California Poppy (Eschscholzia California) in watercolor. The California Poppy is native to grassy and open areas from sea level to 6,500 feet altitude throughout California.

We will learn how to use our paintbrushes to paint in layers using wet on wet techniques for the first layer and later tease out little details like the edge of the petals. We’ll learn how to color match to find our preferred floral hues, and all being well everyone will come away with a poppy portrait that brings them a little bit of springtime joy.

This class is suitable for everyone, including those with no prior experience in watercolor.
