Bishop PD Mural Commission

C5 Studios is seeking applications from mural artists interested in creating a mural on new mural on the east side of the Bishop Police Department building at 207 W. Line Street. This project will create a replacement for the current damaged and deteriorating mural, A Dangerous Arrest, which was completed in 2002 in honor of Officer Richard Perkins. Perkins was killed in 2001, in the line of duty.

The new mural will replace the depiction of a violent event with a narrative more focused on community service that honors the memories of two fallen heroes of the Bishop Police Department: Officer Richard Perkins and Officer Mike Mairs. Officer Mairs passed in 2016 from a work-related illness.

Work is scheduled to begin in April, to be completed in June. It will be on an exterior wall, approximate size is 10’ x 12’. The design concept for this project is somewhat developed, but requires a skillful artist to further develop and render the final design concept as a mural. Payment for this commission will be a stipend of $5000 - $7000 depending on level of experience and expertise.

Interested artists are required to submit the following:

  • An up to date bio or resume

  • 5 examples of their artwork, including 3 examples that demonstrate painting skills applied to figures and/or portraiture

Deadline for applications is Saturday February 10th, 2024. Applications can be submitted in person at C5 Studios or via email to naomic5studios@gmail.com.
