In this class, we will explore Joseph Albers’s revolutionary exercises, explaining concepts such as color relativity, composition, and contrast that demonstrate the changing and relative nature of color.
Josef and Anni Albers, lifelong artistic adventurers, were among the leading pioneers of twentieth-century modernism. Josef Albers (1888–1976) was [the student of Johannes Itten], an influential teacher, writer, painter, and color theorist—now best known for the Homages to the Square he painted between 1950 and 1976 and for his innovative 1963 publication Interaction of Color.
You Will Learn the following:
Color Interaction, Context & Relativity
The Rule Of Relativity
Compositional Themes: Complementary Contrast, Saturation Contrast, Cool / Warm Contrast
Ways Of Mixing Colors
Develop Chromatic Relativity Studies Collages Using Several Compositionnal Themes Learned In The Class
This Workshop Is Designed For:
People Who Have A General Curiosity About Color, Fine Artists, Photographers, Chefs, Textile Artists, And Others
People With No Experience In Color And Those Who Know About Color and Color Mixing Will Be Equally Engaged In The Learning And Discussion
Attendance of previous Color Workshops is not required.
Workshop materials will be provided.
