Both Sides of a Wildfire, oil paintings on wood panels altered by flame and intertwined with wire that was once abandoned in the desert. This installation was inspired by the rare Pleasant Valley Mariposa Lily, a pyrogenic wildflower that depends on fire to thrive. The blooms are not in spite of wildfire, but because of it, representing resilience rooted in disruption. Both Sides of a Wildfire is about perception, how we respond to change, and the persistent thread of optimism that runs through unprecedented times and change.
