Festive Pet Portraits

A watercolor workshop with Ana Budnyk

Wednesday December 14th, 2022 - 5.30pm - 7.30pm

Do you want to learn a beginner-friendly way to draw your pet, make a present card with your friend’s pet, make a visual memory of the pet you had, or draw the pet of your dream? 

In this workshop, we will learn how to transfer the printed image of your pet onto watercolor paper, premix the colors and apply wash layers, draw eyes, nose, and fur, and develop a portrait of an animal. In this workshop we will learn about  color  mixing ad  matching and experiment with the fluidity of watercolor.

Animal photo directions: 

• Send the color images of your pet to us at anastasiia.budnyk@fulbrightmail.org at least 24 hours before the class.

• Ideally, the photo would have good lighting - outside or beside a sunny window.

• The other thing to consider is the camera perspective - try to make the pet’s eyes and camera be at the same height - you may have to squat or lay on your belly - have fun!

• We suggest having the reference image on your phone to help you zoom into the details.

This class is for people with no prior experience in watercolor. All levels are welcome. Ages 12+

Workshop materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your brushes, paints, and paper to familiarize yourself with your materials.
