Native Plants Series: Lilies
A watercolor workshop with Ana Budnyk
Thursday June 30th, 2022 - 5.30pm - 7.15pm
We’ll use our observation skills to paint Kelley's Lily (Lilium Kelleyanum) in watercolor. Kelley’s Lily is endemic to the Sierra Nevada of California, where it grows in moist habitat in forests, such as stream banks.
We will learn how to use our paintbrushes to paint in layers using wet-on-wet techniques for the first layer and later tease out little details like the edge of the petals and steps. We’ll learn how to color match to find our preferred floral hues, and hopefully, everyone will come away with a lily portrait that brings them a little bit of summertime joy.
This class is suitable for everyone, including those with no prior experience in watercolor.
Workshop materials will be provided, but you are welcome to bring your brushes, paints, and paper to get more familiarity with your materials.
This workshop is for adults and young people aged 15+.
