Teen Art Studio: Art and Identity (4 sessions)
Ages 12 - 20, $15 per session
Hosted by C5 Studios
Wednesdays 5pm - 7pm; fortnightly from April 1st - May 13th 2020 - POSTPONED until further notice
The idea of Identity - what makes us who we are and how we find our place in the world, is a theme that artists through the ages have used their artwork to explore. We will explore the idea of self through a variety of figurative and non-figurative approaches, looking at how artists have engaged with “selfies” or self-portraits in different ways and why.
This class is designed to move students beyond basic skills to help them find their unique creative “voice.” Through a series of guided theme and technique based projects in a variety of media, students will start to build a portfolio of personally meaningful artwork that explores their unique interests, ideas and identity. Our teen artists may use collage and stencil techniques, inks, watercolor, acrylic, photography and drawing media and will hone their artistic practice while working on diverse, personal and open- ended projects.
Our Teen Studio is a fortnightly drop-in session on Wednesday evenings 5pm - 7pm. Teens are welcome to attend all sessions or just a few. Each block of sessions will have a different theme or focus.
