If you’ve ever wanted to put words to your experience of the natural world, welcome! In this workshop at Blue Heron Farm, we’ll use the landscape as both setting and subject, engaging our five senses to inspire vivid, place-based writing.
We’ll begin with meditation, walking, and free-writing, then read and discuss short selections from landscape writers such as Robin Wall Kimmerer, Aldo Leopold, and Annie Dillard. Through guided prompts and observation exercises, participants will practice descriptive and sensory writing before being given the option to share their work aloud.
Writers of all experience levels are welcome, including beginners. Please bring: a journal, writing utensil, blanket, water, and travel mug. Comfortable walking clothes and shoes recommended. The instructor will provide readings, coffee/tea, and a light snack.
